Home!
Asher is in the process of being discharged from the hospital right now. Yay! We will fly back tomorrow! So excited to see my family again. It is truly miraculous how quickly Asher has recovered. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support!

New Room
Asher finally got moved to the third floor, out of intensive care, this morning. They had to wait for a bed to open up. He is in a private room, which is nice. I have my own bathroom, and a couch. The dr's did rounds earlier. Asher needs to have an echo and a lung scan done tomorrow (if he can get in on their schedules, we won't know until the morning). Once that's done, he can be discharged. So, tomorrow morning we'll know where we stand. Asher is also mr smiley today! I think he knows we're almost done. I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday, I know I am!

Moving Day!
Asher is getting prepped to be moved out of the CVICU and onto the 3rd floor. His chest tube and PD drain in his belly have been removed, as well as his art line. He is off of the oxygen again, as well. They've done a chest xray, and everything looks good. He's eating like a champ again, up to 4 ounces now! He just has two peripheral IV's left; one in his hand, and one in his foot. Almost there!
Oh yeah, and he smiled at me today!
In other good news, the cardiologist I spoke with today, that manages the 3rd floor, thinks that Asher could be released as early as Monday afternoon, which means I could fly home Wednesday! We are keeping our fingers crossed and praying for no complications. I'll post photos tonight when I get home (I have a ton to post, I've been lazy about loading photos!); I'm going to dinner and a movie with the family I'm staying with, so it will probably be pretty late!

Today
Okay... First I have to say thank you soo much to everyone who has been helping us so far. To friends and family that have cleaned and watched the kids, those who are going to help with meals for my family back home, perfect strangers here who have helped with gift cards and money for food, the ward member here who is generously letting me use her car while I'm here, the Nielson's, who before we came here we didn't even know, and now I consider them close friends, for letting me stay in their home, and for family, friends, and ward members, who have donated to Ashers Trust. Thank you, we feel so loved.
Asher continues to do well; he is eating now, which is great, and continues to pee. He is now on a little bit of oxygen; he's been sleeping a lot, and his oxygen goes in the low 90's when he rests, so they are giving him a little. As he continues to grow stronger, they should be able to discontinue it.
He still has the chest tube and PD drain; it wil be removed today. The doctors were in the OR all day yesterday, so they were never able to take them out. But it is still on the agenda. Today we will also be moved out of intensive care.
I held Asher yesterday! I held him once to feed him a bottle. He was not as thrilled with it as I was. He drank the bottle fine, but he was really uncomfortable because of the drains he still has. I gave up holding him after a few minutes. He is perfectly content lying in bed, watching his kaleidoscope video on tv, and dosing off.
My goal today is today get a smile out of him. The nurse says she got some smiles this morning, so hopefully he'll do it again!
Again, thank you for your love and support. Even just comments on the blog and facebook help; it's nice knowing that people care and are rooting for you.

Rounds
The Dr's just did rounds. They are pleased with Ash's progress. The drain in his belly will be removed later today, so he will just have the one chest tube. And that will be removed tomorrow. His IJ line, which measures central venous pressure, is also going to be removed today. He is under no sedation, no meds for his heart. Just a little tylenol! He is getting maintenance fluid in an iv, we will try feeding again soon. He is getting lasix to help him urinate, though he did just go a little. Yay for pee! They are decreasing his oxygen, also, and he is tolerating it well. They just did a chest xray, and he's resting now. The plan is to move him to the 3rd floor, out of the CVICU, tomorrow. A week from now, we might be headed home! Yay!
Still Doing Well
Asher is staying strong. He's still stable, breathing unassisted (but with oxygen). He's sleeping now. They removed 2 of the drains in his chest, more progress! He didn't do well when they tried feeding him from a bottle last night, and he is not peeing often enough. We'll see what the game plan is when they do rounds today. I also haven't held him yet; maybe later. Will repost after rounds.
